Buffalo intros SHD-NSUM series SSDs

Buffalo intros SHD-NSUM series SSDs

Internal SSD drives are generally not the most exciting devices are, apart from the fact that they SSDs, but the new Buffalo SHD-NSUM series of drives look at something a little one exception, each of packaging is a microUSB port for data transfers in a few a dash in addition to the standard SATA II interface. Otherwise, the drives are expected to fairly standard fare, with Buffalo promising that they are 30% faster than a standard hard drive, and them in the usual 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB capacity. No word on a release round here just yet, but in Japan should be able to select ‘em up in March.

SNES Controller Brings Retro Button-Mashing to the Wii

SNES Controller Brings Retro Button-Mashing to the Wii

If there is one thing Nintendo has the right (with the exception of games), it is the controller. From the N64 is amazing analog thumb sticks and triggers for the rear-shaky-shaky Wiimote, the controller always intuitive, innovative and simple easy to use.

So it was with the SNES controller, which was almost perfect for the time of the three best games – Street Fighter 2, Super Mario Kart and Super Mario World. Compare these efforts for the poor by Sega, the plasticky, thin-feeling Genesis (or Megadrive) controller and you can see why the SNES was the console of choice for the legendary Capcom beat ‘em up

The controller on the screen is actually an add-on for the Wii, but it looks pretty much on the spot, like a copy of the original. With this you can read about all downloadable, retro games with nostalgic authenticity. I wonder if the replica ia the same smear uncleanable plastic on the screen of my TV, like the original back when I get frustrated with a game and again the joypad smash against the glass.

SanDisk rolls out ImageMate card readers

SanDisk rolls out ImageMate card readers

SanDisk rolled a few attractive card today, and the company says they are fast fast. We are skeptical of the claim of 30 MB/s ead and write to 27MB s, but even if these figures are exaggerated, these readers will continue its work faster than ever before and look incredibly cool — in the process.

They are offered in two versions, the all-in-One supports all memory card available, and the Multi-Card, xD-handles, Memory Stick, SD, SDHC, and MMC. If they really read and write that fast, you need a newer UDMA flash memory cards to use that speed.

The look great, but the fastest card we’ve seen our Lexar UDMA reader, the transfer of concerts with astonishing speed images, especially when using a SanDisk Extreme Ducati Edition Compact Flash Card.

AT-AT walker boom box

AT-AT walker boom box

Well, that’s awesome. This is a boom-box, which is combined with a model of the AT-AT Walker from Star Wars.

Sure, it’s a rather old looking boom box, and it has only a cassette player on board, so your CDs will not find a home here, but you can not really greedy, if you speak of a separate piece as awesome as this.

Unfortunately, there is very little information about its availability, so you will not be able to buy it..

New Leica Lens

New Leica LensA new Leica lens is always something to be enthusiastic. The German company could with some difficulty that his rangefinder in the digital age, but when it comes to glass, Leica is pretty much at the beginning of the game.

The latest is a 18mm lens f3.8 ASPH for the M-series rangefinder cameras, digital and film. On a film body like the M6, you have an ultra-wide view. Probably too big for most, and the maximum aperture of f3.8 is quite slow. The combination of field angle and hole means that it is not always much that the famous Leica Bokeh, and sweet, like the Leica lenses make blurry highlights.

On the M8 digital camera, however, the situation on. You’re still stuck with a slow lens, but the lens is a 24mm equivalent. The depth of field is enormous, whatever you do, and will increase from 3.93 meters up to infinity, even if the lens is wide open.

To ensure the proper use of this new lens, you also need to buy a new viewfinder, the clips on the top of the camera. You can use the built in viewfinder, but the absence of bright lines for the 18mm focal length means you have no idea of what you are framing.

The prices are not yet known, but you can be sure they are high. Coming in March.

Kindle Concept Re-Design

Kindle Concept Re-Design

The new Kindle is OK and all, and an improvement on the original, but Gregory Raiz’s version is way better. The concept design does away with the clutter that still plagues Amazon’s e-book reader and hides it all behind a touch screen.

We love it. The screen is bigger (taking up 80% of the fascia) and the button count is down to a Steve Jobs pleasing three — on/off, page forward and page back. With a touch screen you could probably lose even these last two and just flip the pages by touching the screen as you can do with iPhone e-reader Stanza.

The color screen, though, spoils it. Sure, a shiny, chromatic display would be great for reading a magazine like, say, Wired, but the battery drain would be a pointless outlay for most all-text books.
