A literacy program through the mobile phone to disadvantaged women students in Punjab delivered showed improved reading and writing skills.
The five-month program, initiated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), targeted 250 women aged 15 to 24 years old, in three districts.

In this pilot project, which last month ended, the students who received have completed only the basic literacy course, in each case a cell phone.
