While the PS3 was in support of Blu-ray HD DVD instrumental ward, there is a strong argument for dropping an optical drive from the playstation 4 at all. Console owners are already downloading gigabytes-worth of game demos, video trailers, full length movies and TV shows. With a giant hard drive in may of the ps4, games are easy to install led directly to the console on release day level load times would be eliminated.

Together with the Cell processor, the Blu-ray drive is one of the most expensive components of the PS3. The PS3 high price has forced it to third place behind the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360. Sony will be keen not to price in the next console battle.

As Acclaim boss Dave Perry recently said: “Based on the actual cost of the PlayStation 3 and sold because they are at a loss, Sony basically has pretty much no chance of making money on the PS3 because they lost more money than them at all the top of the PlayStation 2 – it’s not even for Sony to happen. ”

Sony can not simply slash its prices, as Microsoft has recently. And Blu-ray is partly to blame. Billy Pidgeon, an analyst at market researcher IDC points out: “Blu-ray licensees would be threatened by the PS3 in stand-alone Blu-ray player. The PS3 is set a little on this side of the question.”

I think Blu-ray has not really made from Sony’s ideas (as well as the other partners in the Blu-ray conglomerate), as it is safe, their time in comparison to DVDs in the day when this was published. Well, at least it is a success after a brief but fierce battle with HD-DVD, but it was more than a year, since HD-DVD was declared the fight, and yet not that many people are adopting the Blu – ray players in their living room. This time, LG Electronics to offer something different for their new range of Blu-ray player with access NetCast Entertainment and Wi-Fi capabilities in the U.S..

Consumers will be spoiled for choice when it comes to extensive content on-demand options for instant access to Roxio CinemaNow, Netflix and YouTube content. He raises an interesting question when – back in the day, where there are only a few TV stations, we were very tied up and would see everything and everything. Fast forward to today, and you have hundreds of channels where you can still find someone who sit on the couch, flipping channels and remarking: “There is not anything good to watch.” Ironic, is not it? Well, the LG BD370 and BD390 Network Blu-ray players were first presented at CES 2009, the latter being the first Blu-ray player offers an interactive download-to-Own and Pay-Per-View Options the consumer the freedom of the contents of Roxio CinemaNow to click on the remote. It also has 1 GB of internal memory for BD Live functionality.

Both models feature the following:

1080p up-scaling of standard DVDs

Dolby TrueHD Surround Sound

DTS-HD Master Audio Essential

USB 2.0 Host Media

1 GB built-in memory (BD390)

Wireless capability (BD390)
