MID concept gets Filofax-style shortcut tabs

MID concept gets Filofax-style shortcut tabs

The craft of Jan Rytir , which is particularly attractive – apart from the smooth curved teeth slide QWERTY keyboard – are the seven colored tabs shortcut along the edge, which is pleasantly reminiscent of a Filofax.Jay sees the MID measuring 180 x 80 x 20mm, so a lot of space for large OLED touchscreen aspect. A trackball is embedded in the keyboard, for easy two-hand while standing or walking, and there are stereo speakers for entertainment.

Under the hood lurks would be an Intel Atom processor, while the combination would be two USB ports, audio in out, an SD card reader and a docking port, along with the usual wireless options. It is beautiful, and I hope, Aigo, Compal, Viliv or any of the other manufacturers are MID attention.

Concept Headphones Make You Look Strange

Concept Headphones Make You Look Strange

Nokia recently announced a design competition for headphones, encouraging designers, their ideas about their favorite music. The result was some really crazy designs.

The above, for example, reads “I’m flying” and is on the basis of I Believe I Can Fly by R. Kelly. Practical? Not in the slightest. Awesome? Very much. And the headphones after the jump are just awesome. Inspired by Michael Jackson’s Thriller, it’s basically like wearing a crazy diorama on his head. Of course, none of these are for sale at Best Buy anytime soon, certainly, but they are cool to see.

Kindle Concept Re-Design

Kindle Concept Re-Design

The new Kindle is OK and all, and an improvement on the original, but Gregory Raiz’s version is way better. The concept design does away with the clutter that still plagues Amazon’s e-book reader and hides it all behind a touch screen.

We love it. The screen is bigger (taking up 80% of the fascia) and the button count is down to a Steve Jobs pleasing three — on/off, page forward and page back. With a touch screen you could probably lose even these last two and just flip the pages by touching the screen as you can do with iPhone e-reader Stanza.

The color screen, though, spoils it. Sure, a shiny, chromatic display would be great for reading a magazine like, say, Wired, but the battery drain would be a pointless outlay for most all-text books.

Temperature sensitive Baby’s Bottle

Temperature sensitive Baby's Bottle

The parents know that the baby bottle, which is too cold or too hot, above all, leads usually to loud protests from the child. New parents learn quickly how many seconds to the microwave, and that they will test the formula or milk at the back of the hand, but this type of low-tech test can be quite unreliable.

The baby bottle of designers Hung Cheng, Tzu-Yu Huang, Tzu-Wei Wang, and Yu-Wei Xiang Thermochromatic emblems used as a kind of Goldilocks automated, so you know, when the temperature is just right.

The baby bottle is just a design concept, but I think most parents would agree with this one anyway.

iShelf Concept CD Stand

Ishelf

Recursion Sweet! This small CD rack hardware, the software itself imitated copies hardware. Up, that the iShelf is not real – it is a concept by Li Jianye and Featured on our favorite vapor-ware dealers, Yanko Design.

The Cover Flow inspired iShelf five CDs in its Jewel, proud as if they were sitting in Apple’s iTunes itself. If it ever came on the market, I snap them as a novelty toy for friends. Remember one thing, Li Jianye: This needs to be made in glossy piano black for the “wet floor” style reflections to eerie effect.
